The trade pathways for experienced workers is brought to you on behalf of the NSW government. The trade pathways for experienced workers program assesses skills and experience through the Recognition of prior learning (RPL) and fee-free gap training. 

Evolution is an approved provider for the delivery of the trade pathways program for commercial cookery that will support the development of experienced, unqualified trades workers to enable them to gain a trade qualification.

 

Our RPL program provides learners with the opportunity to use their years of industry experience to obtain recognition toward a nationally recognised qualification in Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.

You will demonstrate your foundation knowledge and skills through an RPL assessment and will be provided with a skill gap training study plan based on eligibility assessment for the program.

Graduates will have the ability to work in a range of kitchens in the industry with confidence and a level of professionalism that will lead to  fruitful career growth.

 
  • Applicants must be 21 and older, have a minimum of 2 years work experience in the trade they will be undertaking training in.
  • Be currently working or have worked in the industry associated with the qualification being undertaken within the last five years.
  • Not be a current registered apprentice or trainee, or if it was cancelled, cancellation is more than six months ago
  • Assessed as eligible for a minimum of three (3) Unit of Competency of RPL
  • Live or work in NSW.
  • Australian Citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen.

What is RPL?

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is a process that assesses your competency—acquired through formal and informal learning—to determine if you meet the requirements for a unit of study, which is mapped towards the completion of a full or part qualification. Very simply put, a means to be recognised for your existing knowledge, skills and experiences gained through your employment experience. Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is an assessment only process, no training is provided. Therefore, you will be required to provide a portfolio of evidence to support the assessment requirements for a unit.

Is everyone eligible to apply for RPL?

To meet eligibility for RPL, you should have a minimum of two years of work experience in the unit that you are requesting profession you are seeking Recognition of prior learning (RPL).

Is RPL a fast way to obtain a qualification?

RPL is not necessarily a quick process unless you have significant skills and knowledge and have evidence to support the knowledge and skills. If you do not have evidence to support your skills and knowledge, you may find it will take you longer to complete the unit through RPL as you will need to collect various supporting documents to demonstrate your competency.

Is RPL easy?

The procedure to complete is RPL is easy, providing that you have access to supporting evidence which make a judgement on your competency easy to map.

What happens if I apply for RPL and I don’t have the knowledge and skills required?

As part of the initial assessment of your application, the academic team will assess, what you are eligible to receive RPL for and you will have a learning plan created for any skills gaps that require training and assessment. Not everyone is eligible for RPL, as it heavily relies on your ability to produce supporting evidence of your knowledge and skills.
